The Department of Veterans Affairs is the place to start when seeking services for veterans. VA support falls into three main categories:
1) Health Care: The VA offers a variety of services, information, and benefits. As the nation’s largest integrated health care system, VA operates more than 1,400 sites of care, including hospitals, community clinics, community living centers, domiciliaries, readjustment counseling centers, and various other facilities.
2) Benefits & Services: The Department of Veterans Affairs administers a variety of benefits and services that provide financial and other forms of assistance to Veterans, their dependents, and survivors. Major benefits include Veterans’ compensation, Veterans’ pension, survivors’ benefits, rehabilitation and employment assistance, education assistance, home loan guarantees, and life insurance coverage.
3) Burial and Memorials: National Cemetery Administration coordinates burial and memorial benefits are available for eligible service members, Veterans, reservists, National Guard members, and eligible family members. Service includes internment, headstones and markers, and Presidential memorial certificates. VA operates 128 national cemeteries in the United States and Puerto Rico, together with oversight and management of 33 soldiers' lots, confederate cemeteries, and monument sites.

The Department of Veterans Affairs offers a toll-free National Caregiver Support Line which serves as a primary resource/referral center to assist caregivers and those seeking to help in the care of our Nation's Veterans. VA employees who are licensed clinical social workers answer calls and provide information regarding new caregiver benefits, referrals, and emotional support. The National Caregiver Support Line is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Eastern Time. Call toll-free: 855-260-3274.

The National Resource Directory was developed by the Departments of Defense, Labor, and Veterans Affairs for wounded, ill, and injured service members, veterans, and their families; for families of the fallen, and those who support them. The Directory provides over ten thousand services and resources available through governmental and non-governmental organizations to support recovery, rehabilitation, and reintegration into the community.

The Veterans Aid and Attendance Special Pension provides monetary benefits for veterans and surviving spouses who require assistance with their daily needs of activities of living, in order to meet their daily needs.
